Apparently, there were difficulties at organicmaps with the three stakeholders, where they misappropriated funds.
So far, the developers have voted on the project’s name, chosen a new color scheme for branding, removed the Kayak affiliate links carried over from Organic Maps, and started moving away from several Google services.
It looks like CoMaps is moving in a good direction.
Thanks for the heads up @swh, I have relied on Organic Maps a lot, particularly when trail walking, or travelling in areas I don’t have mobile reception.
That would be very cool if it went in that direction. If the developers get the money to continue the project, that would be really great

OM is included in CalyxOS as default app as Google Maps replacement. We’re using it with 5 phones with CalyxOS …
Let’s see, what the developers of CalyxOS will do in the future.
I use on GrapheneOS for years. Didn’t come included. I have installed it from Droid Ify

Installed. Actually identical to OrganicMaps. Everything runs fine
Good to hear that. I am still in the process of downloading the maps (Germany and the Czech Republic).
it’s a very early fork of Organic Maps, so that’s to be expected
Had it installed directly as apk from their site. Now installed via F-Droid. Had to re-download 2,6GB of cards because Android Framework does not allow to copy or move the cards from OM to the folder of CM … ![]()
