Given I live & breathe dwm/ i3wm (my own flavors) I thought I’d get back to try OB again.
I just tried installing the EOS Community Edition version of Openbox and have uncovered a number of missing dependencies, etc. There is absolutely no urgency to identify & fix them all, from my perspective (this is more of an FYI).
My plan is to see whether I can get Lilidog Openbox to function on an EOS base. Lilidog (Debian) OB is awesome… personal opinion.
The community editions are maintained by the community so feel free to PR the needed fixes in GitHub.
For those who may want the dotfiles they see in the above… I have attached them here. They are in my codeberg account for those who may want them. Remember they are worth every penny you pay for them!!! 
The problem is that I found numerous missing software dependencies. An arch, not EOS problem. Lazy person that I am, I simply am sharing what works on vanilla boring stuff. FWIW I make no guarantees on my work— beyond saying that it works for me. I hope the codeberg link is good; I know nothing about git; I do it all drag & drop style.

TLTW cp /etc/skel ~
and install cachyos-openbox-settings

Pls show me how to set search any application from menu in EnOS OB.
@Mods please kill this thread. I keep encountering obmenu errors that seem to be related to an old version of obmenu-generator or my dotfiles. I’m personally not interested in investing more time to fix the problem. I will remove my codeberg dotfiles to prevent others from being contaminated by my files (if they are the cause of what I’m seeing). No need to share problems. I’ll go back to my dwm/ i3wm setups. Sorry.
I am a very happy and satisfied openbox wm user on EOS here. No issues have presented themselves to me, yet. As a matter of fact, all of my installed Arch based distros run openbox with no hiccups.
As to liilydog, please realize that it is a one man show that does not have its own website. Yes, I have installed it and run it in the past. In my opinion, it is not terribly bad but, there are much better distros out there.
