OOM crashes

Hi !
I’ve installed EndeavourOS on my laptop since one year now, and I’ve a lot of out of memory crashes each time I want to work with VSCode.
There is my system

I only have 8Go of RAM on my laptop but I think it would be enough to work with VSCode, with some tabs opened in Firefox and a terminal

Is there someone with the same problem ? Do you find a solution ?

Do you have swap enabled?

If unsure, check with:

free -h

If not, enabling swap may be a solution.

In many cases it is easiest to create a swap file:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Swap

It is:

Swap:
Kernel: swappiness: 60 (default) cache-pressure: 100 (default) zswap: yes
    compressor: zstd max-pool: 20%
  ID-1: swap-1 type: file size: 1024 MiB used: 1023.7 MiB (100.0%)
    priority: -2 file: /swapfile

And obviously its completely filled up.
Maybe try to increase the swapfile size as a first step. Second step would be to check what processes eat up your RAM.

Sorry, did not see the info provided.

Edit: only just discovered that the textboxes (like the one above) are scrollable… :exploding_head:
Thanks, @apollo!

you system needs updating.

kernel is at 6.11.3
Kde I believe is now 6.2 (kde people please confirm)

Another thing that probably needs to be updated is your BIOS.

Firmware issues can cause problems with anything.
