For those of you that like tiling and Hyprland I recommend trying the updated Omarchy Quattro ISO. It’s really good in my opinion with quick shell. It does have some things i don’t care about but it just works and it’s an Arch based distro. I really like it.

Took a (very quick) look by skimming the first video. Looks like plenty of sweet eye candy, which can be fun.
Didn’t watch much of the pitch, so I’m curious as to what advantages/features are on offer vs. other existing tile managers, e.g., sway, qtile, awesome, i3? Does Omarchy bring something special to the table on top of a plain vanilla Arch setup with one of the established tiling wm wrappers? Or even i3 or sway on top of EOS?
If there are compelling superior features I’d be inclined to spend more time exploring further.
The setup is awesome. It’s so easy to use and just works. I don’t even have to think about it because it’s that easy. I don’t have a lot of experience with Sway or I3 or any other WM’s including Hyprland. But i have tried many and this one is very good and is based on Arch. This is the WM I’d like to see on EndeavourOS set up this way because i think it’s very slick.
Edit: It’s using Limine boot loader instead of grub. Works great.
Could not agree more. It’s really rather easy to set up, once you get used to the Lua syntax. It’s basically just install Hyprland, copy some dotfiles, and you good to go. If EOS would adopt something like Noctalia alongside Hyprland, then I really think we’d see users give it a try.
If my situation was more stable, I’d set something up.
Thanks for sharing. Funny thing, so I have been testing Niri and Hyprland with Noctalia V5. The Noctalia team made the choice to re-write all their Quick Shell to C++ because of performance and scaling:
I really like the setup here. Some stuff is more advanced than what is needed for me and also if it was on EOS. The things I like the most are the tiling, the way it works. I like the bar and many other features of the keybindings. It’s just very usable without even thinking about it. It’s very fast and I like that Hyprland works so well on Wayland.
I agree. I’ve been playing and configuring Noctalia as I explore. If I had a spare laptop I might give Omarchy a try (so I can drive it instead of tinking).

In an unrelated comment … kind of annoying that people are following the Youtube algorithm to have open mouth thumbnails. So annoying when they play things up for clicks. But hey, way for them to make money I guess. Or I could throw popcorn at the screen trying to get it in his mouth. LOL
Youtube has made a few changes sort of forcing channels to push out more content then they normally would so yer just take note of what is being said.
On topic I have been watching Omarchy and Nocticlia, have been thinking of switching to something a bit less resource heavy for this machine as it tends to lock up at time (especially if I want to extract a file)
I personally find Omarchy too opinionated and bloated for my taste, but I’m also recently sporting Noctalia and HyprLand and loving it.
I agree it has a lot I don’t want. I wish it was endeavour stock but i like all the hyprland setup as far as the tiling and waybar if that is what it is. Not sure how you have the dot files setup? Did you use a preconfigured install? Like to see it.

Aesthetics can easily be exchanged on any system, the thing that blocks most is that there is image editing to be done on top of script changes which can be a hassle.
But to be blunt what ya point? Do you not have half an hour to make it yours? hour tops?
I’m using cachy’s Hyprland, they’re all pretty similar and (for me) easy enough to adjust. The important things are just a list of keybinds. Noctalia does most of the other heavy lifting.
What kinda blew me away, was launching a game from Heroic Game Launcher, and it opened on a new workspace, definitely benefiting full screen gaming (which is the only mode I’m interested in). I guess I’m easily impressed.
I did try CachyOS hyprland also. I take it you just installed Noctalia then?
Actually the most recent version of Cachy’s Hyprland comes with Noctalia…significantly improved (imo) vs what was before the August release.
Nice to know, I have been watching these just want it on a clean system so if something goes wrong it will be easier to troubleshoot the issue

I get this feeling because we are Arch people, we like customizing our rides. So not easy going with someone else’s fully developed desktop.
