The combination of Odroid N2 and its Mali-G52 GPU causes problems with Wayland.
Odroid N2 used to work with Plasma and Wayland real well. Then about six Months ago an update to mesa broke it. Back then the solutions was to downgrade mesa. But that was soon broken also. Here is the current situation.
Gnome has separated itself from x11 and Gnome will no longer run on Odroid N2
KDE Plasma will work on x11 only. At the sddm login screen, change from
Wayland to x11 before logging in.
Cinnamon works on both x11 and Wayland with it’s muffin Windows Manager.
This suggests that the Cinnamon Developers took their own path with Wayland.
XFCE4, Mate, Budgie, LXQT, LXDE, i3wm all work on x11 only.
If anyone has any fixes or work a rounds, or even just some information on this, please let us know.
hey @Pudge i will do a fresh install on my odroid N2+ now.
Using KDE to see if i got really the same, on my old install i can launch wayland session with kde using sddm set to use wayland session and also with plasma-login-manager
Thanks for the feed back.
Yes, Odroid N2+ is working well for me also after I started using a 1920 X 1080 format.
The next time I release an Odroid N2 image, it will be with plasma-login-manager installed and plasma-x11-session not installed. In other words fully Wayland.
It ends up I was having problems with Odroid N2 and Mali-G52. Black screen after login.
At the same time, @joekamprad was not having problems. So pointed to hardware.
After a lot of trial and error I found out that the 1366 x 768 TV was the problem.
Switched to a 1920 x 1080 TV and all is working well. Go figure.
