Octopi Notifier is broke?
see this thread
I recompiled Octopi yesterday and it works perfectly for me.
your suggestion then is for me to delete my current Octopi package and then reinstall it?
Yeah, I did this:
sudo pacman -Rns octopi
yay -S octopi
As there has been ongoing DDoS attacks on various servers of Arch Linux for some months now, which also affected the rpc endpoint which would handle package update requests to the AUR for instance, this may also the cause why octopi is failing to notify about new updates.
some people’s goal is just destruction, it seems.
I just had to rebuild it.
yay -S octopi --rebuild
This fixed Octopi for me. I don’t use Octopi to actually install anything, just for browsing packages.
Reinstalling or rebuilding octopi helps to get it running again. But as written in https://github.com/aarnt/octopi/issues/616 the check for updates needs to be fixed upstream. Some work has already been done, but in the AUR the new version is still missing.
Quite intriguing. Both my octopi and the notifier appear to be functioning correctly.
My octopi installations do all work too after reinstalling them. Have you tried to run the update in octopi?
I cannot try it as I am updating only via terminal.
No, I don’t use octopi to update either. But I have verified that it “works”, in the sense that the list of outdated packages appears correctly. And the notifier changes color correctly when there are updates.
Same here. Maybe notifier is something different. IIRC octopi-notifier is a seperate program.
Octopi wouldn’t start after recent update:
This fixed it completely!
Thx
