Nvidia | optimus-manager problem after update

i cant lod in nvidia drivers, i got tty only

Do you have the option enhancements set up for the nvidia?

Edit:
Try setting this up from the TTY. Do all of the enhancements on this page and then reboot into the system see what happens.

I just noticed in your post? You ran

nvidia-installer-dkms -t

This is in test mode. In order to install nvidia you have to run

sudo nvidia-installer-dkms

Edit: Did you actually install them or just ran the test mode?

if so try to rebuild optimus-manager ?

I had the same issue. Idk if this will help but give it a try :slight_smile:

if you are stuck in tty, press alt f2, type your username and password, then sudo nvidia-installer-dkms -n. Your system will boot normally. After that, install the proprietary drivers back. When you are done, follow the guide above BEFORE rebooting

i did intall nvidia, not only test, just thought it was somewhat useful )

didnt work ( if i install proprietary driver and reboot my desktop doesnt load ( only tty, and if after that i install optimus (rebuilding it ofcorse) i lose tty also, and have to load with usb dist

sooo i tied some things:

sudo nvidia-installer-dkms -f
sudo mkinitcpio -P // MODULES="nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm"
sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg //nvidia-drm.modeset=1

after that i was able to load to desktop with nvidia prop, but only on external monitor (hdmi), laptop monitor remains black and undetected by system, which wierd by it self
after that i tried installing optimus manager, and reboot, i get only integrated

just now i was able to load in nvidia mode, with dual monitors, which is good, but hybrid mode doesnt realy work (did before)
soo i think something wrong with intel integrated video, any recommendations ?

Your original post shows the intel driver installed i915
It is the xf86-video-intel package

pacman -Qi xf86-video-intel

If you want to revert to the open source nouveau driver

sudo nvidia-installer -n

This should put you back where you started with Intel and Noveau open source driver installed

If you want to then reinstall nvidia-dkms

sudo nvidia-installer-dkms
