Bricked after failed update, is there any way to recover from this? Kernel, boot, graphics & hardware

After the most recent update I had a black screen, I followed the instructions on here and managed to fix the black screen but now I am treated with a nice bunch of error messages [FAILED] Failed to start D-Bus System Message Bus.
