Nvidia driver seems to be not installed

A certain program that needs a graphics card installed, is not working properly.

When I check the ‘System Settings > About This System’ GUI tab, I see no graphics card installed:

Operating System: EndeavourOS
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0
Qt Version: 5.15.11
Kernel Version: 6.1.58-1-lts (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NV136

If anyone can guide me with installation of the driver.

Have you tried installing the driver manually using the official nvidia website and open the console (tty) by pressing ctrl + alt + f2 or f3. once you have login to your console, you can temporarily stop the display manager and de by typing:

sudo systemctl stop lightdm or gdm
sudo systemctl stop graphical.target (this may be the incorrect way to stop your DE)

Once you have stop all the grahpical interface, run this command where you have downloaded your NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-535.113.01.run (remember to make this executable by using chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-535.113.01.run):

sudo ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-535.113.01.run

Once you have installed the driver, remember to restart your pc and hopefully :crossed_fingers: that will solved the issue. If that doesn’t work, I think this may help too new-nvidia-driver-installer

that borks systems. NEVER install anything from websites on Linux especially graphic drivers.

that is the only way to safely install graphic drivers.

you are correct, you only have the free driver installed. Nvidia sucks with free drivers.

thank you for the replies.
I installed nvidia-inst and it seems it has solved the problem. :slightly_smiling_face:
