Yes you are 100% right
I run the latest KDE Plasma
I should have noticed that from inxi -Ga. I guess i can only surmise that something is still messed up in the driver configuration.
If you want I think i would try again and reset it to run on nouveau.
sudo nvidia-installer-dkms -n
Let it finish before restarting. Make sure you give it time in case it’s hanging. The goal is to have it show that it is actually running on nouveau. Of course !'m not sure it will boot on it either but it should!
I’m sorry this is such a nuisance. Unless someone has another idea?
Edit: I’m on KDE right now but this system has AMD.
Sounds like a good idea im gonna instal nouveau again now
And also its not a problem at all im really thankful that they are people that want to help me
Also why would the DE be a problem for a driver?
Some desktops are different. They use different display managers etc.
Edit: Example: Xfce use lightdm, KDE uses sddm, Gnome uses GDM. Sometimes it can be other issues. But with nvidia lately i don’t know…changes i guess.
Okay I get it thank you!
Quick question:
It said Cannot run mkinitcpio -p linux: Command '['mkinitcpio, ‘p’, ‘linux’ ‘]’ returned a non-zero exit status 1… please run it manually before rebooting
What exactly is mkinitcpio doing?
also do I have to run it manually I guess so
Did you use sudo?
sudo mkinitcpio -P
When did that come up? Before?
Im not sure anymore but I think so
It installed correctly but printed it as a warning
Did you do anything yet or you’re just telling me what happened before?
I didnt reboot yet or did anything
I just wanted to know if I should run the command or if the warning has any meaning
I’m not really sure. What it meant as i didn’t see the message or when it happened.
It happened right now after installing nouveau
Sorry…it said before reboot … then maybe run
mkinitcpio -P
Edit: Oops too late.
I rebooted now I hope for the best
well to late
I hope it wont matter
Nothing matters when it won’t work. It’s all bad.
Im in plasma again so I think it didnt matter
Okay …
inxi -Ga
from what I can see the driver installed correctly this time
[mixel@mixel-ms7a33 ~]$ inxi -Ga
