No Wifi on Vivobook M1505YA / Realtek MT7902 (driver : N/A)

Hello everyone,

Ive just done my first ever Linux installation as a dual boot Windows 11/EOS on my new laptop a Vivobook M1505YA
I dont have wifi on Linux (it works on Windows th).
On Linux when i open the Wifi pannel at the bottom right, its empty.

I disabled boot Fast boot and Fast Startup from Windows.

Ive done an offline installation from an USB Key, ive tried to have Internet with my phone plugged in USB but it didnt work, and i dont have ethernet port.

Ive tried to find a solution here and on Reddit, and it looks like the problem comes from an hardware/firmware incompatibility. Is it really the case ? Or does a solution exist ?

It looks like you didn’t update after doing the online install, because your firmware is outdated, maybe a update will make it work. Also did the wifi work on the live ISO ?

Indeed, I didnt update after the install because i didnt have internet, i did a offline installation. Is it possible to do it without internet ?

Is the live ISO the OS i had during the installation after booting on my USB key ? If so, no, i didnt have wifi.

Glad to see that the 7.1 kernel now has the fix for the MEDIATEK MT7902 driver. I’ve been using an ASUS USB nano adapter on my Vivobook 16. After updating, I shutdown, pulled the adapter and booted. WiFi now available. :+1:
