Hello, sorry for asking this type of question even though similar ones have already been asked. I am not detecting any monitors through hdmi, neither on Sway nor on Xfce; I tried also using another cable, but it still didn’t work. I looked online to find a solution, but as far as I can see all the threads of this topic are by people who have an nvidia dGPU, while I have an Intel Celeron with i915 drivers. I can also show my other system info, if that’s necessary (tell me what command to use).

I checked and there’s a new BIOS version I should update to. Problem is, when I try to boot the pc from the flash drive with the update on it, it doesn’t update the bios. Im going to try again, but in case that doesnt work, is the BIOS version essential for the hdmi mirroring to work?
I’m not sure of the issue your having however you could always try booting up something like Hirens and update the bios through windows apps. l
As far as your issue yes bios can affect this issue.
I updated the BIOS to the latest version available for my laptop (F.50), it still doesnt recognize any device connected through hdmi
if you boot with a live ISO does it give you both monitors?
You can run swaymsg -t get_outputs to get a list of output names. Then you can use output command to set up displays.
You can run man 5 sway-output for help.

You have to check the cables. What spec are they? Try other ones or better spec. Also check the monitor settings for input source. I don’t know what else I can tell you that would help.
I tried using the cable to connect a windows pc that I have to a monitor and it worked without any issues. How can i check the cable specs and the monitor settings for input source? When i try running xrandr it only detects the laptop’s built-in monitor.
There are settings on the monitor itself that you set the source of the input. The cable specs should be written on the cable. I’m just suggesting trying a different Hdmi cable and maybe one of a higher spec. Version 1.0 is the earliest. Maybe someone else who uses Sway could help. I only know how to check using the commands and setting outputs. I don’t know why you aren’t getting any output. Your hardware looks a bit older?
