No installed apps visible in settings Endeavour OS Gnome VM

I am new here and I’m trying out Enedavour OS Gnome in Oracle VirtualBox. I have a strange problem. In Endeavour OS Gnome as VM guest I cannot see my installed apps in settings.

See Picture 1-Endeavour.OS Gnome VM: No installed apps visible in settings

See Picture 2-Manjaro Gnome Host: All installed apps are visable in settings

What could be the cause?

Maybe try installing gnome-packagekit?

That being said, you probably don’t want that on any Arch-based distro. Packagekit isn’t really safe on Arch because it doesn’t support manual intervention.

Welcome to the forum @wowotiel !

They are there, but in a hidden way :upside_down_face:

On Manjaro Gnome I have not installed gnome-packagekit, so I don’t think this is a good solution.

Sorry but this is not what I ment. It is not about Removable Media, but about the normal installed Apps that I cannot see.

Strange enough I cannot either change the Default Apps despite they are not being grayed out.

There is definitely something wrong with the Apps menu’s in Settings.

Very strange.

Does it happen with a new user?

It happens withe the first user en also with a new user.

Maybe I will wait till Gnome 50 comes out en then will try again EndeavourOS Gnome VM.

Thanks for the help.

Sir @joekamprad ,

Can malcontent be added to the packages of Gnome, just to keep up with Cachy-OS?
Thank you.

Some confusion about what EndeavourOS is providing maybe or i do not understand the full context here?

the apps settings are may only working for flatpak, we do not have these enabled by default.

Malcontent the same its optional. And what exactly says “to keep up with cachy” ? @eso

I will check about the apps section again, not using Gnome regularly.

the “default Applications” showing options dynamically if there are alternatives, if you only have one Browser it takes this one without offering to change it.

second part “Media autostart” only shows options if slider enables the option indeed..

@eso ah i remember now.. malcontent is needed to be installed to show the apps option, as of non split packages.

I do still think not needed by default. But we would enable if it would not have such strange dependency.

We will see may we also have to enable malcontent for other things (currently in the media)
