Is the wallpaper below GenAI? If so, can we please not use GenAI wallpapers? There’s tons of concept artists or photographers for whom it would be an honour and pleasure to have their work used for free as a wallpaper. Could even make it into a contest or something.
First of all, we are very grateful for any community contribution in this area. All of our wallpapers, including the recent one, have been created by a community member, as stated in the release announcement.
So, we are still open to ANYONE who likes to contribute a wallpaper. The reality is that @smokey and @UncleSpellbinder were the only ones to date to actually come up with a concept for us.
Although I do understand your message, the reality isn’t that straightforward. And trust me, we have asked through our nearly seven-year run.
@arsCynic, I designed that wallpaper. I utilized several different images, effects, colors. I used GIMP and Krita in the process. I assure you, I am not an AI.
I’ve created the last several ISO release’s wallpaper. As @Bryanpwo mentioned, @smokey is also a wallpaper contributor.
Please don’t tell the poor UncleSpellBinderAI that he is not human at all. there is a great intention behind it, I say only 3 words: The world takeover of the machine
All jokes aside, I think I understand why the OP says this. The actual image, not the text or the celestial bodies on top, looks like it is AI-generated/assisted.
When reading the OP I looked again detailed at the new wallpaper. I immediately saw the scene of a look on a city from above. In the foreground and on the hills you can see lots of trees with varios forms and sizes. I never have seen pictures from AI with such a variety of forms. Very often forms of trees look very similar in AI pictures.
EOS has a long history of user-submitted content for the distro, I think that’s a wonderful thing. Having an additional “EOS Wallpaper Pack” - optionally downloadable might be a good option.
@arsCynic Would you ever consider submitting a photo you think might fit for EOS? I’m sure we’ve all taken a picture we’re all proud off at some point, fond reflections or otherwise..
