No ethernet connection usb live install

Elloquin, Yes I am.

Yes he is and ethernet isn’t working on Intel 1217V which should be the e1000 or e1000e module as far as i know.

So it looks like the module is there as it is a kernel module. Maybe @Elloquin knows why it won’t load on the live usb. Wonder if the r8168 is blocking it?

Rick, what may I ask, is the r8168?

It is another module for Broadcom chips. Sometimes you have to blacklist modules because they conflict with others. It happens sometimes. I’m not 100% sure how to try it on the live ISO.

Edit: I could be way off base too? I’m just trying to think what the issue is.
Edit2: I have dealt with loads of iwlwfi or broadcom issues but this is an different Intel chip. It is common but i just don’t see many issue with this one.

You could try

sudo rmmod r8168
sudo modprobe e1000e

:grey_question:

What do you mean? No ethernet after? Or on live usb?

Edit: Okay now i see. I was under the impression it wasn’t installed from the title.

This is the page where I got the tarball from. Just don’t know what to do with it except extract and install. the commands it spews out make no sense to a newbie like me. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29137/Ethernet-Intel-Ethernet-Connections-Boot-Utility-Preboot-Images-and-EFI-Drivers
Thanks. Maybe I should just boot without the internet. But I’ll try sudo rmmod r8168
sudo modprobe e1000e next.
Yeah seems like I didn,t have it before I tried endevour. Sorry should have made that clear right off. I was doing a lot of distro hopping. Must have corrupted the intel driver in the process.

So i was confused by your title? You have EndeavourOS installed or not? If its installed already then I apologize I thought you were trying to install it and had no Ethernet to connect.

Edit: If it’s installed please remove the r8168 package and reboot.

sudo pacman -R r8168

It is running live from a usb

This is what is confusing me as it is different than the Topic title?

Again Sorry for the confusion on the tittle :flushed:

It not even just the title. It’s your first sentence! I assumed you were trying to install from the live usb and have not installed because you have no Ethernet connection? But your first sentence say’s something entirely different.

You are correct I am wanting to install not run off the usb.
So, is there any solution; or try plan B and install without the internet?

Currently i can’t think of an easy solution because I’m just not sure the reason it’s not working. It should automatically load the kernel module as far as i know for that chip. It’s up to you if you want to install the offline install which is xfce and then see if it has Ethernet after the installation when you reboot into it.

Edit: Unless @jonathon or someone has another idea.

That’s because I suggested

As you might have found by now, commands are case-sensitive. That is, you have to be careful what you type (and also consider why someone might apparently be asking for information about audio components when dealing with a networking issue).

I’m confused. You said that you:

What exactly is the current state of your setup?

I don’t think it would show anything anyway as i got him to run inxi -n. I’m just not sure why it’s not working.

That’s still not quite correct (-n vs -N), and OP didn’t post the result of their network hardware in any case.
