Hi everyone,
To begin with I’ll give some context, although it may not be necessary (I don’t know), I’d rather say it now than wasting your time and mine later with this. I also wanna say that english is not my mother tong so some of the terms I use may not e adapted, if that triggers you feel free to enlighten me on the right words ! I’d be happy to learn the correct way of talking on those subjects.
So,
I decided to install this OS on a laptop I got from school 4 years ago, here’s a link to the PC specs info I got through hardinfo2 https://ibb.co/84mBzhvC
When I first got it, it was on a modified version of windows, with a lot of things to prevent users to install anything, basically a high school laptop. When I finished High school, I got a local admin session and since its a rather low end PC (think that’s the term), I thought I might do my first Linux install on it because I understood it was less heavy on the hardware. I knew my PC wasnt super strong anyway so my goal was to play hardware-light games, and searching for an OS that does well with gaming, is not too heavy on the hardware and with terminal usage needed, because it’s cool ! And it really interests me to learn Linux.
This being said, the sound wasnt working so I looked up tutos but I cant tell what I did because it was like 5 months ago, I don’t remember.
Now since I’m going on vacations and I wanted to bring this laptop with me I thought I might do a system update and try to repair the sound.
I followed this tutorial A Complete Idiot's Guide To Endeavour OS Maintenance / Update / Upgrade and after rebooting the computer I found out that the sound works at start, but if I plug something in the jack or go to the sound settings, the sound completely stops working, be it on a jack device or just from the laptop speakers. I also found out that on the audio settings it says im using a headset as an audio device, but I don’t understand why, since I first of do not own a headset, and, well its not connected to my computer. Precise name is : “Casque Audio Celeron/Pentium Silver Processor High Definition Audio”. After rebooting again I found that the thing with audio working then breaking when I do anything related to it other than listening happens again. So audio works but not with jack devices and stops working if I try to do something after booting up.
Maybe I said too much things if so I’m sorry ! It’s my first time posting ! I’ll try to post better next time lol
Thanks to everyone that will help me !
