New user account cannot have the same resolution

Hi There,
I created a new user account for my daughter using “sudo useradd -m name” but when I log into it and try to change the screen resolution to the same as mine(1980 X 1080) it will not let me unless I change my screen resolution to something else.
Is there a way to make them both the same?
Thanks,
Alma

Hello again @NewUser. This is an unusual resolution. Might this be a typo, and you meant 1920 x 1080?

Could you also provide some system details:

inxi -SMGxxx --za | eos-sendlog

Please share the shortlink that produces.

Hello again Bink,
You are right I meant to say 1920 x 1080.
Here is the result of the command you sent me:

It makes things a bit easier to read, if you set output text like that as preformatted text.

Can you try this:

xrandr --output eDP-1 --mode 1920x1080

I suspect this won’t persist after restart, but just wanting to see if this works.

So I just tried something and it worked. I changed the refreshing rate to match mine which is 59.96Hz and now they are the same.
