I read every week they delist games from steam, is this the new “hype” “trend” ?
Now Star Trek Resurgence gets delisted from steam, yesterday i read disney removed alot of games from steam and a week ago i read horizon chase turbo gets delisted. i am glad i own those (except disney games) but for sure the companies knows how to destroy gaming.
usually licensing reasons, or server shutdowns bc money or other reasons like a company going bankrupt. with these 2 games:
Star Trek Resurgence: delisted from Steam and other digital storefronts because its distribution license has expired .
Horizon Chase Turbo: The game has been removed (delisted) from all digital stores, including Steam.
This move was announced by the developer, Aquiris Game Studio (now Epic Games Brazil), which is removing the games from its offerings due to cost-cutting measures following the massive layoffs at Epic Games.
I don’t know if this is the case with every delisted game, but I have at least one that has been delisted (Transformers: War for Cybertron), but still appears on my library and I can install it (tested it just now).
This trend is not new. What is new is the transparency about it. Back in the days GAmestop just cleared it shelves from those titles, nowadays it is delisting.
I know, but you can´t purchase those anymore unless they show up on gog or epic (somewhere). I find it ridiculouse games get delisted, from the shelves i would understand but not a digital copy.
Forza Horizon is absolutely renowned for this, and it’s infuriating that an entire game gets killed because the licencing for the car models is only for a set duration.
