Im really new to Networking and dont understand if my Nftable rules actually do anything.
Any help at all with better understanding this would be greatly appreciated.

Two things.
First, if want to use nftables directly, you should disable firewalld first. This will remove all the protection that the firewall is providing and you lose the ability to use it’s management interface.
Next, how are you running those commands? Just putting them in a file won’t really do anything.
