I would like one of those for me, but 399 plus shipping costs and taxes would be to much for me right now…
Maybe next year

Fantastic. The biggest issues of the initial version as a smartphone were a) lack of apps and b) lack of performance. This should eliminate (b) while still affordable for enthusiast - not cheap, but affordable.

If it reliably makes and receives calls, receives and sends emails, runs Linux and has a decent battery life, then it’s the phone I’ve been waiting for.

With 4 GB RAM, 128GB storage and the new SOC I thought this could be interesting. And then I saw that they still use a 720p panel :slightly_frowning_face: Come on guys, even my Nexus 5 from 2013 had a 1080p screen, I won’t go back to 720, sorry.

Now that Pine64 will release a phone which could be daily driver for some people ready and considering that there is with waydroid another interesting development, my hopes rise that someday I will use EOS + Nemomobile on my phone.

My only problem with this is that its Rockchip…mainline support for them has been getting better but every Rockchip device/devboard ive gotten has had absolute garbage long term support.

This seems like a decent device overall but ill remain skeptical for the time being as to how things will go. Might get it later if i can use it with my carrier.

Maybe it’s to increase battery life/screen-on time? Higher res screens require more power. But, I don’t know the power difference between a 720p and 1080p screen

Yes, ofc, but a 480p screen would even use less battery  But srsly, with this SoC there should be plenty of battery left for the screen. And for me 1080p is the minimum. But ofc there may be ppl who are happy with 720p. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just not for me.

version rockchip RK3588 should be better …
