i am trying to install this package but it fails, i don’t know how to do the change from the last comment nor if it works
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/qtcam-git
The package was flagged out-of-date in April this year, so it apparently needs improvement, and noone has taken up responsibility to cover for any further improvements. Looking around on the net, all software available for this specific package is even older than the Arch one.
It seems to have recent commit on github
I don’t see any improvements there that are later than the Arch package. They still refer to “latest” install methods, as of Ubuntu 20.04 which is some years old already.
Thing is this - from the Arch package-website:

Source protocol needs to be updated from
git+git://
togit+https://
due to changes at github.com.Now, downloading throws the following error:
==> Retrieving sources... -> Cloning qtcam git repo... Cloning into bare repository '/home/felics/.cache/yay/qtcam-git/qtcam'... fatal: remote error: The unauthenticated git protocol on port 9418 is no longer supported. Please see https://github.blog/2021-09-01-improving-git-protocol-security-github/ for more information.
Perhaps someone else in this community can help you with this(?), as this is clearly over my head.

ALL HAIL TO MIKROSAFT (microjugo)!
it’s even worse when a friend present you with a microsoft cam and it doesn’t work well on linux, this software seems to work well with microsoft cams but then i cannot get it installed, i’ve been thinking of getting a spedal webcam because of that
There are a number of incompatibilities present with the latest versions of libraries available on Arch. I had a brief look at the PRs to see if they would work, but they don’t cleanly apply and I don’t have any real interest in spending time fixing them.
TL;DR, it ain’t gonna work without a fair bit of time and effort.
