My own OS developement and my first actually funny bug

i did this, ¿somehow it works and it doesn’t

yes, those characters are supposed to be a simple screen with a simple prompt… it worked until i pressed a key… yet!

this looks cooler, and before this i had a simple prompt… yet… this looks good, i did it inside EndeavourOS and to be honest the whole topic of making a OS from zero is fun and stressing at the same time.
i really respect the EOS developers, idk how often you work with Assembly yet i hope your debuggings go always well!

About this OS:

Codename: J-OS
Code modified: 30256 times since first line (maybe more, i lost count)
Code Version of this run: 123.0.0 Pre Release

This project is free and open source on the GitHub Repo (One or two versions older than the lastest version)
(i am still working on this, sorry again for all this post for a broken version of my OS but i wanted to share it)

we could say it is a “From Zero” on the fact that i am writting the whole OS by myself, yet i know it could be based on UNIX or FreeBSD, i am not sure yet
it is running on a VM over a Intel Celeron, 8GB of RAM and 320GB of Storage
for now i am working on it displaying a proper prompt and make some simple commands work

PD: i am not sure if i can post this here, yet if it is not allowed i am ok with removing it as soon as posible, sorry for the whole trouble

anyways, thanks for letting me know, i will try to do changes, i don’t want this to be a copy of any other OS or anything :slightly_smiling_face:

ありがとうございます!

yup… project will be canceled :expressionless:
it was good while it lasted

It’s difficult to come up with an original name. But does the name really matter?

It’s a toy operating system project, you have no intention of commercialising it. And if it grows into something bigger than this, you can always rebrand.

yeah, this was supposed to be a community project for a custom OS that would be like linux yet with a lot more complexity or less complexity, rebranding would’ve be a easy fix if thhis starts growing more yet by my lack of creativity that wouldn’t be a good idea, we just saw that, the name(project codename) was important since i have lots of other projects in the background and i organize them by codenames, meaning, rebranding it and changing the codename would mean to move it’s importance to other side, about the “OS”(that after some quick investigation i realized it was indeed a “custom Operative System” yet that is just the bootloader) the only thing that would be different would be that it is a lot more buggy, it doesn’t have any other apps and that the custom filepath i was gonna use would provide security and incompatibility to other OS’s like windows or linux, meaning this would be a Standalone OS… basically useless to developement or playing.

this wasn’t just a fun project, this was supposed to be what i do in a future… and yeah… i losted interest on it after seeing it is just another one of the pile…
yet thanks for the idea, hope you have a good day!

yeah always dreamed my own, i have a name also Leo X, but probably also exist :stuck_out_tongue:

is bit a eye to Leopold , also to Lion , Leo in latin is Lion  J-os is fine idk if there is copyright anyway. but for me sound a wink eye to ios too  the simple it be better can be too  just Joss is also different then j-os specialy  tijacos  This Is Just An Custom Os :stuck_out_tongue:

somehow all that made sense in a interesting way…
i guess i could think on rebranding… all this is already too complex already, ig i am just making it more complex than it needs to be, lol, thanks for the ideas, i will think about it
