Mod/meta key not working on my keyboard

I broke my install of arch, and decided to use EndeavourOS because I didnt want to compleatly start from scratch again. I was using i3-wm before, and saw endevor has an i3 setup so I installed that. Once the install was done, I boot into it and the mod(windows) key was not working. I thought it might be somthing weird in the i3 config but all looked good. Anyway, I reinstalled endovor with KDE and the mod key still does not work. I tried a second keyboard and it worked with that. Im not sure why… In summary: mod key not working on i3 or kde, mod key working with another keyboard, driver issuses??? it works just fine on plane arch. I really dont want to buy a new keyboard just because the mod key isnt working on EndeavourOS. also sorry if theres any spelling mistakes im super dyslexic lol.

In think I would try to boot from a live cd and see if the meta key works then.

Or try [1] to see if the key is being “scanned” at all.
Not sure if xev is what i mean but what you need is a tool that can show a scan code.

Ps your text is perfectly readable

Yeh, xev is the way on i3, wev on wlroots based compositors:

xev -event keyboard

But sounds like hardware, see if there is something stuck under the key.

So… i think i found the problem. I couldnt install xev because endovor installed wayland, (btw, if theres a way to install x11, let me know i would greatly apreacate it.) But, i installed wev (exv for wayland) and got no input from the windows key, i even tried a vm. and i pluged my keyboard into a 2nd computer and still got no input. so that just means my keyboard is messed up… I am so sorry for the wast of time, but i thank you both so much for such a quick respone. :joy:

Switching to X can be done in the login screen. IIRC the option to choose X or Wayland is in the left bottom corner.

ahhh thank you so much, so simple but so usefull. ive been using wayland and screenshring is compleatly broken so its nice to know how to use x11. thanks!
