Missing syslog file

Having trouble connecting to privateVPN. Help desk ask me to “send us the OpenVPN log so we can check. You can get the log by typing this code at the terminal: $ grep VPN /var/log/syslog” There was no output so I looked for syslog file and it isn’t anywhere on my system. I need the privateVPN so I can watch netflix and other uses while I’m here in Mexico.

I guess they aren’t familiar with systemd?

I would try:

journalctl -g openvpn

good answer, thanks. your command didn’t dump much so used journalctl|grep VPN > txt.file
Got lots of entries that way…

thanks again…
