also, related or coincidental to “edge” crashing, google-chrome will not load any pages

(I deleted google-chrome and files I thought associated – reinstalled and still will not load pages, also restarted endeavourOS)

before deleting google-chrome I tried clearing all settings

Probably this:

Sounds like the systemd change which affected all chrome-based browsers. Try removing the ‘myhostname’ option from the hosts line in /etc/nsswitch.conf.

modified “nsswitch.conf” hosts line as follows:

hosts: files mymachines resolve [!UNAVAIL=return] dns

Chrome still will not load pages

if I have correctly found the packages changed along with systemd-249.1-1, they are:

Edit: i’m sorry, i did try hard to resist

in case anyone is still reading this thread,

still having an issue with Edge-beta crashing. Edge-beta remains functional on arcolinux and manjaro

I don’t have an issue with it on KDE.

@garybean
If i launch edge from the terminal it opens no problem but this is left in the terminal. So obviously there are some issues with security certificates or something.

Edit: With Firefox opened from the terminal there are no messages at all!

appreciate seeing your terminal readout launching Edge from the terminal.

I do have a separate EndeavourOS boot/efi “test” partition. Chrome and Edge are working from it with all package updates installed. (runs with separate EOS home partition as well) Considering reinstalling my daily driver EOS boot/efi in hopes that the daily driver home partition does not contain the problem

I can’t really tell you what the issue would be but maybe @dalto might know. The errors left behind in the terminal on mine just show me that things aren’t quite right. But on mine it launches and works fine both from the terminal or the menu.

well… re-installation of endeavourOS root partition (and my regular apps) allowed google-chrome to operate as normal. — probably won’t reinstall Edge until it is out of beta

I like the feel of a freshly installed OS, knowing that the accumulated cruft is disposed of.

Much appreciation sent to EOS team and helpers.

Should be:
hosts: dns [!UNAVAIL=return] files
