Message: Object libgtk3-nocsd.so.0 cannot be preloaded

Hi all,
Seems that my system has taken to issue this warning after anything is done in the terminal:

ld.so: object ‘/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgtk3-nocsd.so.0’ from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (cannot open shared object file)

All of my searches have been unsuccessful (with the vast majority of them being in Ubuntu).

These are the things I have attempted:

  • Running sudo libconfig and logging off
  • Running sudo libconfig and rebooting
  • Installing gtk3-nocsd-git through yay via yay -Syu gtk3-nocsd

This system is newly installed with a default i3 configuration, and Steam. I have done nothing else other than move my dotfiles onto this system.

Just wondering what this is intended to accomplish - I guess mainly because my experience with nocsd was in using it to dump CSD interference on XFCE4. Which CSD purveyor is intended to be defeated in your case? BTW - in XFCE4 it has been relegated to an option recently, so I don’t use that library any more…

Appreciate the reply.

Turns out this was an issue with my dotfiles. Specifically my .bashrc.
It was some line dedicated to some 32 bit library issue for Steam.

I attempted to do an install on Debian, and the same thing occurred. Investigation ensued, and go figure, it’s my fault. :man_shrugging:

Gee- that hardly ever happens  Except all the time, of course, for most of us. Enjoy!
