I understand your point of view, but these features are also built-in safety features that makes managing the forum easier. It is a standout feature for this software and before you ask, no, we’re not going to change forum software.

I still remember the days when everything forum was phpBB. Discourse is light years ahead in terms of usability, features and overall responsiveness.

Sorta back on topic. Forums (except tech support forums) are dead, social media, in its many forms, killed them.
Adding social media functions, is not going to save them
