Make powersettings permanant

I all,

I have an old laptop I am recycling into a media server. When I’ve logged in as a user it’s simple to edit the power settings to turn off the monitor when the lid is closed, but when I log out and the lid is closed I can no longer ssh into the computer. How can I set the power settings to not sleep when the lid is closed?
