That is something I know and also realize that but it is not like someone is putting a gun to the head of a mirror maintainer to start with a mirror. If you don’t want a lot of traffic , don’t start a mirror. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.
Just yesterday I tried to download an iso from a server, it was dead slow. ETA was more than 4 hours.
I only discovered the torrent later and the download was blazing fast. Finished in 4 minutes.
I try to dl via magnet/torrent whenever it is possible.
The magnet link is working as expected here as well.
from what i hear on people in remote area or with inconstistance internet its the only way to get the ISO downloaded in normal timespans.
Torrenting is mainly a social thing sharing and caring
I don’t know why you would expect servers to never be overloaded, it’s a bad habit to think like this.
Well I bet servers would be overloaded sooner if everybody is installing EOS online at the same time, but there is no other method to do that as far as I know, at least not with torrents. And if I pick a server from the list of nearly 20 to 30 mirrors listed, I have strong doubts that the server I pick is used by hunderds or more people at the same time . And if it is I would notice that on the download times probably, and I would pick another server.
I use real debrid to download torrents ![]()
Links have been fixed anyway
