Getting a land line for my elderly mother. Cell phone is too much for her anymore. Was checking out the different land line services around town, and most use VoIP now a days. I use xfinity for internet, and talked to a rep for information on how to use their service. Unfortunately I would have to get a different router to use them. Then I ran across Magic Jack. It seems pretty straight forward. They claim its cheaper. Mabey it is. My main concern is will EOS get me through the setup? Looks like the setup is geared for Windows.
I haven’t ever succeeded in installing it on any flavor of Linux, so now I use their Android phone app for calls to the US. The app is pretty straightforward, or so it seems to me, and included with the MagicJack service. Cheaper? Well, it used to be, but now I’m not so sure. If you can set it up with Windows somewhere, they provide an adapter to plug it into an internet router directly, no computer required. Then plug a landline phone into it.
