I’m running a MacBook Pro 2012 15" and really enjoying EndeavorOS, which I have also installed on everything from Chromebooks to older Windows machines.
But one issue is kinda driving me bonkers. After I’ve closed the lid, OS running, and come back later to it, I am able to reawaken the machine w/ my password. However, the mouse (touchpad) pointer vanishes. I end up having to hit the power button (quick push) and then hit the enter key which usually shuts down the machine. I can’t visually select “log out” either… using the arrow keys to navigate that shut down / logout screen shows me nothing.
So the question: how do I get the pionter to reappear or better yet have it not disappear after the machine is reawakened?
Not quite certain, but I’m wondering if there’s something up with your USB mouse driver/connection when you shut the lid.
FYI, I’m currently running EOS (dual boot OSX) on a MacBook Pro mid-2011 with a wireless USB mouse. I recall having a similar issue at some point - although not lately.
I also seem to recall it had something to do with the USB mouse dongle. Having a bunch of mouses (mice) around - some Microsoft and some Logitech - I recall that some behaved more/less consistently than others when it came to losing track of the pointer when hibernating, sleeping, lid closing.
What kind of mouse (brand) are you using and is it a USB wired or wireless? Do you have any others around to test?
Not a mouse. Just the machine’s own touchpad.
Ah…touchpad is a whole other mess on my old MBPro. Sometimes I have to smash it with my hands to get it to stop taking over and moving the mouse all over the place. I’ve toyed with replacing it with a new piece, but too much trouble for this intermittent behavior.
Sorry, wish I had better guidance. These old laptops are generally awesome. But they do get a bit funky as they age - as do we all.
I’ve replaced the battery, upgraded memory, hard drive. Its the bionic MBPro now.
Cheers!
