Losing my mind I can't boot help

I don’t understand what’s even happening I updated my bios because my pc kept crashing and now It’s just stuck in a limbo with the gpu fans at max speed its so loud it feels like it’s gonna explode and I don’t understand what to even do please someone help I’m crying I don’t even remember how to check what the hell is wrong or even begin trying to fix this I just want my pc back a while ago it was at least showing me udev something now I can’t see anything at all on my screen when I turn it on why is this happening to me help

Is it a laptop or a PC?

Edit: You said PC but just checking?

Edit: The first thing is to breath. Calm down and stop crying.

Edit: Are you able to boot up into the Bios settings screen?

Did the BIOS update finish without any errors ?
After a BIOS update everything will be set back to default settings , that would explain the fans going like crazy. How old is your hardware ? You mentioned crashes, that’s why I ask.

Not necessarily true.

Edit: What i mean is even if it set back to default settings it shouldn’t have anything to do with the fans going like crazy. :innocent:

Well ok then they could be going like crazy .

It’s probably more related to the reason why the PC is crashing causing this.

That was also my first (or second) thought, actually , but without knowing the hardware, that will be hard to tell.

@aqua
Try to boot the PC up into the Bios settings screen and see if you can set the default settings and save and see also if it’s booting on the correct drive in the settings. Then reboot and see if it will boot up to the desktop. Are you running on systemd-boot or grub? Also what desktop is installed?

Edit : I see in your Bio you say your are just messing around with vm’s? Is eos installed on the hardware?

There are 2 possibilities I can think of.

1: Bios update was succesful, and the PC just needs like a good couple minutes (up to 15) to POST (start) after it, this doesn’t happen often for personal computers, but it’s an every boot thing on servers. A similar thing to what you’re describing (pc turns on, fans go crazy for a while before it starts) is a common occurrence when you buy a new pc and start it the first time, laptop or desktop doesn’t matter. My pc every now and then requires like 2 or 3 minutes to start and it behaves in a smiilar way as well.

2: BIOS update was not succesful, your motherboard is a paperweight. If it’s this scenario on a desktop, you just need to buy a new motherboard that supports your current CPU and RAM configuration and swap it out. If it’s a laptop, you more than likely need a new laptop. It is POSSIBLE for a repair shop to fix your pc if they are extremely competent (think Louis Rossman types, dedicated kind of repair shops) by replacing your bios chip entirely, but that whole operation is likely to cost about as much as a new motherboard overall I suspect.

yeah I can get into bios and I did change the settings but I never had the fans different from the default. I’m running eos on hardware grub and hyprland

So it still won’t boot then?

Then you’re good. It’s an issue with your installation/setup, we just need more details on when and how the problem happens to help u.

I think it did actually crash during the bios update but this board had a backup bios or something and then it updated successfuly the second time

yeah that would save you, how were you updating the bios? which method did you use?

USB stick and qflash

So you put a bios rom on a usb drive, booted into the bios screen and flashed it from there right?

yes

Ok, if it crashed during this operation there is something seriously wrong with your hardware which would explain all your other crashes, what exactly that seriously wrong thing is, is a bit harder to figure out. It would be a problem with either ur cpu, ram or motherboard.

I hope it’s the ram, You can actually test that easiest although it takes a while.

the other crashes are a persistent demon that’s been haunting me for like 3 or 4 years at this point through every single os and I’ve replaced almost every single part on this pc over time except the cpu and ram and I don’t know why it keeps happening and I thought just flashing a new bios would fix it

this is the furthest it gets
