Looking to install unity on the system

Im looking to install unity on this device but i cant get it to work. i followed i think 5 tutorials none of which worked. One had the same issue as i had on ubuntu release version which was that i could run the hub but not start the editor which was after i resized the temp directory sothat i could actually download the… i think its called the editor itself(?). i also tried to install the editor solo but that complained that i did not have a license to run unity

edit here regarding the ubuntu part. Unity worked after i booted a LTS version of ubuntu

another edit since i forgot the mention completely that unity is for school so the next paragraph makes 0 sense without this context

i might be able to switch platforms depending on if he accepts a return that he cant verify is done correctly. Atleast not without a hassle so do recommend different game engines. I wont say its a possibility though beacuse im not sure

Maybe share a link to Unity, not everyone(inlcuding me) will know what “Unity” is more than one piece of software can have that in the name.

There is an AUR package:

yay -Syu unityhub

However, note the first comment on the AUR page:

Version 3.15.2-1 does not recognize installed plaforms. It will be fixed in 3.16.0+

And the related bug report’s reply:

it still says the version is 3.15.2-1 after i run yay -Syu whats the move here? Im new to arch so please be patient with me. I also ran pacman -Syu

Correct.

Also, as the maintainer notes in the bug report:

NOTE: reminder Unity and the Hub team do not officially support non-Ubuntu distros

However, version 3.16 will correct the current issue that is appearing on non-Ubuntu distros. There may also be a patch pushed to 3.15; if that happens, hopefully the maintainer of the AUR package will push an updated 3.15 (the maintainer seems to be pretty active with the package).

You might want to mark this topic as solved (although it isn’t actually solved, at least there is an explanation of the failure and a not-quite-yet-available upstream solution) to help other users who may be experiencing the problem and use the forum’s Search function.

By the post (at the bottom) there should be a greyed out “Solution” with a checkbox. Click it to mark the comment as the solution.
