Looking for a tiling wm that suits my needs

From everywhere I’ve read it seems that with the new Nvidia drivers it has gotten a lot better since the date this topic was created.

Yes, this is true. Since I posted this, I actually installed Hyprland some time after and things just worked without any fuss or additional configuration. Same for Cinnamon (Wayland).

In some cases, like gaming, things actually work better without tinkering in Wayland than they do in X11.

It’s still in the guinea pig phase for me, but I can maybe see myself using it as my daily session this time next year.

I’ve been using for almost a week now and I’ve already removed my beloved Gnome setup, that’s how much I’m liking it.

Because I also use my device for work, I always keep a full DE around just in case.
In this case, Cinnamon. I want to go back to KDE eventually, but Cinnamon does most of what I need in a full DE.

Hyprland got some reasonably good updates I like as well, so eventually my X11 days (even Openbox) will have to take a backseat.

I also use my device for work since I work from home 90% of the week and login remotely to work, only difference is I am not running Arch which might make some differences as I’ve heard of people’s Hyprland configurations breaking with some Hyprland updates.

Yeah, this is why I update on weekends only. Not keen on having to roll back some updates 15 minutes before work.

Cosmic is pretty good. It’s both a de and a wm

Interesting. Last time I installed hyprland on my rtx 3080 setup it was just crashing on log-on and kicking me out back to login screen and I had no patience to debug it, so rolled with i3, but might give it another go

Or try sway, since you know i3 already
