Long connection times for online games

First post, been on EndeavourOS since November, glad I made the jump and all, etc. etc..

I’ve hit a strange issue when playing games online on my system. Network gaming works fine as I play, but the time it takes to connect in the first place is unusually high in some games. I’ve noticed it most on Tekken 8 and now Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond where it can take over 30 seconds or longer to reach the main menu (and seconds more just to be able to navigate). Starting matches in either can also take a prolonged amount of time and fail to start. I haven’t seen this on my Steam Deck and it persists between different interfaces, so I suspect it’s a configuration issue. I’ve tried some of the adjustments on https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Sysctl#Improving_performance to no effect. I’ve looked around for similar issues and it doesn’t seem like anyone else has encountered or noticed this kind of problem.

Any insight, or potential guides I could have missed would be appreciated. Most gaming optimization talk I’ve found revolves around local performance and is light on network tips. Every other issue I’ve had has either been fixed with time or has a workaround, but this one has stumped me for a while now.

How speedy is your internet? Does this problem occur in Windows? Do you use ethernet or WiFi?

In my opinion 30 seconds isn’t that long. Maybe servers are now under heavy strain?

Pulling 220/110 Mbps from Speedtest.

I don’t have a Windows system to test on, but the login issues don’t occur on my stock Steam Deck (and phone) for the same games on the same network. I haven’t actually tried to match in T8 on the Deck, but given that I’m not encountering the same title screen issues it’s fair to say I shouldn’t expect the same troubles. I do have another thing to test there, but that’s a more game-specific issue.

Mostly WiFi. I’ve used my onboard WiFi and a separate module over Ethernet to try to rat out any interface issues.
