I’ve been using a hodgepodge of old laptops for years and think I’d like to get something new. This HP Dev One has me intrigued, but I’ll check out the system76 stuff too.
Do you have any other recommendations/considerations?

Have you looked at the framework laptop?
Yes, I have checked them out and they look cool, but I’m leaning towards an AMD chip. Do you know if Framework will be adding AMD in the near future?
Not really other than I love ThinkPads. They have the best keyboards of any laptop I’ve ever used before. All 4 I’ve had I loved to type on.
I had a look at the Framework laptops last night and I really like what they are offering, especially the ability to upgrade over time. @sradjoker , do you have one?
I would’ve bought one if they had a 15" one
Has anyone ever heard of “Juno Computers”?? I’ve been looking into all sorts of linux type laptops and this 17" looks pretty freaking good at $1250. . . I’ve never heard of them though.
I just bought a 14" Thinkpad t480s about a year and a half ago, so I’m looking for a bigger one this go. Otherwise I’d probably buy that HP Dev One. It looks great, aluminum. The only things I don’t know - I’ve only had one HP and the keyboard was just abysmal. I’d be so afraid it’s still garbage. But the expandability and the looks are solid for the price.
I’m not sure about the darter pro. After so many ThinkPads, every time i go to a store and play with a laptop, I’m always disappointed by the keyboards, so I’ve almost cornered myself into my Thinkpad niche, and I’m afraid to spend money on a really nice computer to be disappointed in it by my cheaper more comfortable computer.
I inherited a Dell XPS13 that my wife was using for her business. The device had stopped charging and she had no time to mess with it. I pulled it apart, installed a new battery, 1tb NVMe, and a new WiFi/Bluetooth card and was able to salvage it. Now after about two years, I’m getting the itch for something new. I’m going to wait for a few Youtube reviews of the HP come in before I make a decision on that device.
It seems all the big shots got review units.
Can you give honest review if you get free units from a company?

touchpad no center. drive me insane ( ok more insane like a normal day ) It nice see main maker offer linux out of box on nice hardware
I want one. Love the fact that it’s 14". I like that it has PopOS rather than Ubuntu itself or some other distro. Wish it was EndeavourOS…but i have a fix for that! Looks like the keys are just like my Lenovo Thinkbook 14" so i would love to compare it. I really hope they open this up to ship internationally!
Just let me know. I definitely ship to Canada.
I was looking at the tuxbook infinity book s17 17" laptop. I’m realizing the dimensions are smaller height and depth wise than my Dell Inspiron 15" and not even 3/4" wider with WAY more screen real estate. … that’s awesome and very enticing. Plus I can get it without a logo on it. Or maybe I’ll get a Bender head. It’s only $30 euros.
this machine is a milestone in history …
Yeah, we got Antikythera mechanism and now comes hp Dev One.
It was about time
indeed it was time for the next milestone in history!
