Be prepared, it will come into the “stable” repo quite soon.
So far, in testing, it has been running without any noticeable issue here.
That was quick.
I pulled it in from Testing, so far no issues with my system and kernel 6.14
do you use yay or pacman to pull it from testing?
Note that it creates a partial update situation which is not supported nor generally recommended.
I’m really excited about this kernel w/ ntsync. I hope it’ll boost the gaming experience.
Thanks
I thought Arch snaps the latest new kernel from Testing pretty much right after the first point release, so in other words, should be quite soon.
I bet on this weekend. Though I have already grabbed it from testing to see if I succeed in breaking my system or not
I failed
If at first you succeed… oh… …
… better luck next time?
Maybe I go for 6.15.1rc to see if get any luck
Hmm, still only available via testing as it seems like. All I want is to see in which way my system benefits from the ntsync stuff.
Maybe there are issues with the kernel?
Often they wait for the x.1 release of the kernel, before they release it to stable.
Good decision.
As @I0F mentioned, often the Arch devs wait until the first point release, which probably is a wise thing to do. There have been various small issues at times with the x.y kernel before x.y.1 which is a likely reason for the small delay.
Well, today the package delivery guy had something for me to tinker around with, thus I’m distracted and the urge to check for updates isn’t that severe at the moment
The “let’s wait for x.y.1” is reasonable. On the other hand the the x.y.0 is usually going into testing quickly, but then we don’t get x.(y-1).latest anymore, which is a little bit silly.
6.13.9 came out a week ago, nobody knows when 6.14.1 is actually going to be released. So we’re sitting with 6.13.8 until then. Essentially mainline testing stalling the rollout of stable.
It is also a question about other packages like drivers which need to be compatible with the kernel.
Arch devs should sort these eventually.
16.4.1 released today.
So, have patience people!
Yes, it was updated in the [core-testing] repo to 6.14 era. So it is (slowly) coming.
Only about two weeks now.
