Lightdm fingerprint auth fail locks out the system

Hi there,
I’ve installed EndeavorOS with cinnamon and lightdm on my thinkpad x230.
I’ve followed the arch wiki in order to activate my fingerprint reader on login, and it works fine for the most part.
the problem is that when fingerprint authentication fails, I’m unable to try using my fingerprint again and when my password is entered it doesn’t login (the loading circle next to the password field freezes).
I can still turn off my laptop with the power options on the top right, but that’s the only thing I can do, and the only way I can login is via a power cycle.

any idea on how I can both fix allowing multiple attempts on the fingerprint and the lock screen freezing up?

Not sure about the fingerprint auth as I never used it, but you still should be able to drop to tty using Ctrl + Alt + F2 or F3 and so on. Then from there you can start lightdm again or whatever.

Welcome to the forums.

hey, thanks for the warm welcome

I’ve tried doing that but it kinda defeats the whole purpose of having ligthdm in the first place
thanks for the help though, now I can at least trouble shoot without rebooting each time

Hopefully someone with a little more knowledge than myself will be able to help you with the fingerprint side of things.
