LibreOffice spell checker doesn't, does not, broken

This is a new install for my grandson. Yea I’m recruiting.
I have had this happen before :roll_eyes: and can’t find the solution, sorry.

etc/locale.conf is generated fine:

LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=en_US.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_US.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.UTF-8
LC_MONETARY=en_US.UTF-8
LC_NAME=en_US.UTF-8
LC_NUMERIC=en_US.UTF-8
LC_PAPER=en_US.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=en_US.UTF-8
LC_TIME=en_US.UTF-8

Setting in LibreOffice was set correctly at installation.

To Check Spelling Automatically While You Type

Choose Tools - Automatic Spell Checking.

Right-click a word with a red wavy underline, and then choose a suggested replacement word from the list, or from the AutoCorrect submenu.

edit: yes, Hunspell was installed as well.

I tried mine and it isn’t doing any spell checking either. :thinking:

I don’t have my computer with me, but spell checking is an optional dependency you need to download for libre office.

It looks like you are missing a translation extention.

I installed hunspell-en_us and it works.

Thanks ricklinux that’s the ticket. I had hunspell:
$ pacman -Qi hunspell Name : hunspell Version : 1.7.0-3 Description : Spell checker and morphological analyzer library and program Architecture : x86_64 URL : https://hunspell.github.io/

But not:
$ pacman -Qi hunspell-en_us Name : hunspell-en_us Version : 2020.12.07-3 Description : US English hunspell dictionaries Architecture : any URL : http://wordlist.aspell.net/dicts/
