Libreoffice Help

Hi, I don’t know what happened in some update or something like that but when I right click on the kde desktop and go to “create new Libreoffice writer document”, a menu opens telling me to put a title for the file when before Libreoffice writer opened…

Is this a new feature that I missed or is it like this now?
Thanks.

I’ve never opened LibreOffice via right-clicking on the desktop. I open it either from the apps menu or the icon in my panel and it opens an empty document. I just did it your way and I get the same dialog box. So I couldn’t tell you whether it’s something new or not.

Yes, that “error” is something new, I have tried a live iso of Mx-Linux and when clicking on new file write or whatever, openoffice opens, there must be some bug because in the previous version of EndeavourOS it did it correctly.

This is very strange.
Greetings.

It seems to be asking for the file name for the document. I don’t know it it always did that.

No, I say it’s strange because in July I downloaded EndeavourOs and when installing LibreOffice by clicking on the contextual menu on the KDE desktop, a list appeared like now, I clicked on new file write and LibreOffice opened with an unnamed document, I’m going to try Cachyos and Mk Linux which have always worked for me since something has happened to Endeavour’s LibreOffice, I’ll record a video or take screenshots.

PD: How strange, now both in Mx Linux and in Cachys only the box to name the file appears, before Libreoffice would open with a document without a name.

It really is very strange and at least for me that is annoying.

Regards.

So, curiously, why is it so annoying? You’d have to name it before saving anyway…

Because it is easier and more convenient to click on the desktop and open a write file that will go to menu-office-libreoffice writer.
Regards.

Okay. If you use LibreOffice often, a possibly even easier and more convenient thing would be to bind LibreOffice Writer to a keyboard shortcut.

The command is simply “lowriter”.
You can bind it to something like “Super+O” or whatever you prefer.

Unfortunately (and rarely fortunately), KDE sometimes takes pages out of Gnome’s book, so even if you report this upstream, there may not be a fix/reversion that comes quickly or at all.

Well, said and done, I have created a keyboard shortcut “Super+<” to directly access Libreoffice writer, although this is new since before the context menu was better, I think the new Kde-Plasma has fixed some things but ignored or forgotten others.
I am not entirely satisfied, but it works.
Thanks for everything to everyone and best regards.
