So, somewhere in the last week or so, Libreoffice became glacially slow to load and to load spreadsheets within it. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and set the spreadsheet to its defaults, and uninstalled some plugins for it as well, with no improvement. I even timeshifted back two weeks before the problem showed up, with no improvement. I have System-Monitoring-Center installed, it also loads VERY slowly. I am considering a total system re-install, as I do use spreadsheets fairly heavily. Does anyone have any ideas?
What DE/WM? Do you have xdg-desktop-portal-gnome installed? Remove and reboot.

Wow. That fixed it. I have no idea what that file does or how it got in my system, but removing it fixed the problem.
