Lag when moving Windows and inside games

When i move a window around and move my mouse in a game its choppy and feels like 60hz when my monitor is set as 180hz. This only happens when a second monitor is plugged in. when a second monitor isnt plugged in, moving windows and moving my mouse in games feels buttery smooth.
any help please?

XFCE uses the old X Display Server as the default. This display server forces dual monitors on different refresh rates to have the same common refresh rate when both are connected. Why? I don’t really know, but it does.

Your only solution is using XFCE’s experimental Wayland session, which may or not work, or use a desktop environment which has a mature Wayland session already, like KDE Plasma or GNOME. Wayland does implement support for different refresh rates on dual monitor setups.

60hz isn’t choppy though… But what winnyace said is it.

X has very poor support for multiple monitors that do not share resolution, and it has even worse support for monitors that do not share refresh rate.

Wayland has ok support for both, the simplest solution for you is to use plasma wayland instead of xfce.

Alternatively you could just set both monitors to 60hz. It would be smoother.

My wayland doesnt work tho. giving me a black screen

how are you trying to run wayland exactly?
