Konsole: Cannot permanently add new (colour) profiles

Hello everybody,

whenever I add a new colour profile to my Konsole, it disappears once I close the terminal.

I can add a new profile, say “Profile1,” modify it, and save it. I can then even use Settings » Switch Profile » Profile1 to activate it, but once I close the terminal, it’s gone the next time I open Konsole. It just reverts back to the read-only default profile and my previously created Profile1 appears to have been deleted.

I checked the permissions of the config file, according to another thread I found in this forum:

[xenon@IdeaPad5 ~]$ ls -l ~/.config/konsolerc
-rw------- 1 xenon xenon 691 1. Mär 00:11 /home/xenon/.config/konsolerc

This seems to be fine, though, right? The user, in this case xenon, has read and write permissions, so I should be good, or am I mistaken?

Yet somehow new profiles just cannot be permanently saved and I don’t get it …

Please help. :frowning:

Have you gone to settings manage profiles and change the default profile to the one you created?
Screenshot_20220301_092423

Yes, and it’s being deleted once I close and reopen Konsole.

Sorry I missed the part where you said they where deleting

Ok so I have managed to make konsole do this twice now however after the first time it happens it seems to fix itself, the only way I was able to do it the second time was by logging in as a different user.
I have to go out now but will play around with this again when I get home, but hopefully someone will come along before then and be able to help you.

Okay, so for some reason I could now save ONE profile and set it up as the default. However, the same issue as before happens when I try to add another profile, say Profile2: Once I close and reopen Konsole, Profile2 gets deleted. This is weird as heck.

is this thread of any help

There are several reported bugs on Konsole, plenty of them about profiles.
I had faced few of them when using KDE.
I suggest you check for one that fits your issue, or post a new report.
