Now that upstream has stopped maintaining KNotes, an app I really love, I’m looking for a similar note-taking app that specifically includes a system tray function like KNotes. I use this feature a lot for work, and it’s essential to my workflow. Does anyone know of a good alternative?
xpad
edit: probably won’t have bells and whistles which I assume the kde one has but its a post-it note app all the same
As the link you posted states
Marknote has gained support to import notes
So, is it possible for you to use Marknote. That looks like an intended replacement.
marknote is not a sticky note program? Or am I missing something?
The sticky notes plasmoids remain a thing though. I use those for per-Activity reminders.
For note taking I use Marksman with Kate (and Helix) - the end result is a lightweight version of Zettler/Obsidian.
Is knotes like evernotes? How about joplin?
If you really love it (and have the skills or can learn them), perhaps you want to apply to maintain it? (it is an option)
This looked like the best option but running it doesn’t produce a system tray icon as far as I can tell.
I appreciate the suggestions. However, as stated in the post details, a system tray icon function like knotes is what I really need and most of these do not have that feature unfortunately
The plasmoid is decent, but I need to be able to save/backup and organize them. This is why knotes was so great.
I can understand that. That’s why I use ephemeral notes separate from long-term notes.
In any case, it might make sense to voice your concern on https://discuss.kde.org/
