Kernel 6.18.1-arch1-2 now available

Just updated this morning. Zero problems so far and everything runs smooth.

Jump in, the water’s fine.

Also working here. knock on wood

same here

Here the new kernel seems to work too.

But the Nvidia drivers were updated as well, and they show some strange screen issues (occasionally parts of the screen disappear momentarily) on my 1030.
Hope they’ll fix that soon.

All updated here including the Nvidia drivers. I’ve seen no artefacts with my 1660 GTX, but it’s only been a few minutes since I updated.

Hello all,

kernel was updated to 6.18.1 here this morning. Everthing seems to work.

One observation after all these pacman-related posts the last days:

there were no messages regarding dracut anymore, (not, that I need them, just an observation).

Ciao, Photor

You are probably using the nvidia-open driver, I use the older nvidia driver.
That might explain the difference.

My second notebook with a gtx 1070 uses closed source drivers. No issue to report either.

Yeah, I am. Maybe that explains the difference?

Maybe, remains to be seen. So far I found nothing about this issue from Nvidia or Arch. Fortunately it doesn’t happen constantly, but only sometimes, so it is not a really bad issue so far.

All good here. Smooth as silk, so far.

╰─❯ pacman -Q $(pacman -Qsq linux kernel | grep ^linux | grep -v headers)

No issues here running Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti. But, as you said, it may be that I’m using the nvidia-open-dkms driver.

╰─❯ pacman -Q | grep -i nvidia
lib32-nvidia-utils 580.119.02-1
linux-firmware-nvidia 20251125-2

Or, my old GPU or motherboard is starting to fail…

All good here too AFAIK

Another happy camper here: So far, 6.18.1 works fine on 2019 iMac desktop and 2011 MacBookPro laptop.

Now off I go to tempt fate with a vintage Dell Optiplex… [Edit: no issues on the Dell either :ok_hand: ]

…and now 4 days later we’re on 6.18.2-arch2-1 and kernel 6-19 already in RC1 status.
What a wonderful world.
