The new release brings finally Auto-Type on Wayland.

The new release brings a lot of long-awaited new features, many bugfixes, and several security updates. Among the major features are the migration from Qt5 to Qt6, Auto-Type on Wayland (Linux), configurable keyboard shortcuts, remote database synchronization with external tools, quick unlock with password on macOS, and quick unlock via Polkit on Linux. Version 2.8.0 is also the first version for which we ship native ARM64 builds for Windows and an experimental AArch64 (i.e., ARM64) AppImage for Linux.

keepassxc 2.8.0 arrived in extra-testing yesterday (2026-10-21), so it should be promoted to extra within a few days.

Very good news ! No more need to change .desktop file with this because of Qt5 ! :
Exec=env QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland keepassxc %f

(otherwise, with Gnome with Wayland, I lost icons in Dock + Alt-Tab…)

The new Wayland Auto-Type uses the xdg-desktop-portal, but on start I get

Thanks. I had removed all qt5 from my system , so I had switched to the AppImage directly from the developer.
