KDE window decorations not applying to Dolphin and Kate

I have recently changed my KDE Plasma theme, and noticed that specifically the window borders are not applying to specifically Dolphin & Kate (application style, colours, icons and titlebars are all fine). From what I’ve seen, this would usually be an issue with GTK vs QT applications (I see the same exact problem on my whatsapp desktop AUR app, since it’s GTK), however Dolphin & Kate are standard KDE apps, so I’d be amazed if it’s built with GTK. I’ve tried reinstalling it, but the issue remained, and I’ve looked all through the settings and couldn’t find any theme settings that might be overriding the KDE settings’ theme.

Have you tried a reboot after setting? Themes and fonts often required a reboot to set properly.

Assuming you have already rebooted, I would open an issue here if the issue still persists.

Rebooting doesn’t help, and the issue applies to every theme. Even setting the global theme to Breeze Dark EndeavourOS has Dolphin and Kate with no borders or outline highlight.

Seems like you may have turned off window borders.

Type “rules” in the settings search box. Should be able to find it.
Don’t remember where it is.

I’m guessing “Window Management”?

Have you got any window rules set up?

No window rules and Dolphin specifically has “No Titlebar and Frame” unchecked (since there was a reboot).

Do the same issues persist under a new user?

Nope, everything including changing the theme to Klassy and setting the borders etc works as expected in a new user account.

It would be something in your .config or .cache folder more then likely then though it may or be hiding elsewhere depending on different changes. Can’t really think how to describe how I would go about it now sorry.

I guess just going around renaming various KDE-looking configs to .backup, rebooting and seeing if it’s fixed.

Just realised something. Your windows are arranged neatly like you are using a tiling window manager. It might be causing the issue.

Do you have any plugins to tile your windows?

Ah! I do. Using Krohnkite from the KWin Scripts store. Could something like that be impacting specific windows like this?

Yep. Check its settings.

There are no settings that seem like they would cause this effect, but disabling and reenabling the plugin fixes the issue until reboot. I’ll take the issue there after I do some more testing.
Thanks!
