KDE seems to be leading the way right now

In just the few years I’ve been using KDE with Endeavour I’ve seen it get better and better.
How about the rest of you Endeavournauts, are you on KDE too or spreading the love?

Started using it in Mandrake Linux back in the days around 2003. It already stood out at this time. At least I’ve always preferred it over Gnome 2 or even Xfce. These days I’m torn between Gnome and Plasma. Plasma is more flexible, but if you want something simple and cohesive, then Gnome isn’t bad either.

The only thing I can’t really stand on Gnome is the missing native systray. There are extensions, but it’s a pain in the a**** when major updates to Gnome are released.

I prefer Gnome and Hyprland.

Yeh that system tray thing is blimmin’ irritating, I decided not to bother with the extension and did actually get used to the different way of Gnome doing things.
Gnome’s really good but I do prefer Plasma, it’s really on the up and up, and I absolutely love how much it can be customised, I really missed that when I tried Gnome.

I started out on Linux SuSE with KDE, but eventually spent more than a decade using GNOME at least until Plasma 6 arrived. My main gripe with GNOME was the reliance on extensions for my workflow: every time a new GNOME version came out, those extensions would break, and I’d have to wait for developers to update them. With KDE, that headache is gone. But I do agree that KDE can feel bloated with so many options, so I try to keep things simple.

So, if there’s too many options, just don’t change them and leave them default, right?

Or turn them off

But that’s an OPTION, ye gods

I prefer having options I can switch off instead of not having them at all.

Yes and no, meaning I use both KDE and Xfce.
KDE looks nice and is versatile. But, by default settings, Xfce is much faster to start up here.

Yes. I love KDE Plasma. Tried some other DEs, like GNOME, Xfce, Budgie, Cinnamon … But none of them worked like I want it to work. KDE Plasma does … So I’m with KDE Plasma.

What I love about KDE Plasma is that I can make it as simple/minimal as I desire. And I do just that.

Yeah i use KDE for a long time now, Gnome just feel totally illogical to me.

Ah yes, when I first came to Endeavour I used XFCE for a little while, I think it was the default back then, it was fast.
