KDE Plasma - System freezes

Hello,

Currently I am using Endeavour OS with KDE for a few months and so far I am really happy about it. However, I would like to ask some help because I run into a few issues I was not able to solve with the help of google alone.

I am using a HP-laptop which is currently about 2-3 years old. I am using a external monitor, mouse and keyboard which are connected to the laptop by a usb-c hub. The problem arises in most cases when I disconnect the laptop from the USB hub. The system will start to freeze completely after a few seconds and I need to hard-reboot in order to be able to make use of the laptop again. In some occasions, the hard-reboot doesn’t even work as the system keeps freezing during the KDE display manager or a few seconds after I’d entered my password. So the only way is to hard-reboot a couple of times until the system is behaving normally. After this stage is entered, the system is running smooth as like everything is stable without any instability whatsoever.

I followed this tutorial regarding the ACPI logs I saw in the journalctl command changing acpi_osi to Windows 2017. This did help a little for a few weeks but right now, the old problems are showing up more frequently that it became really annoying. As I do not have much knowledge from Linux and the underlying software, I am hoping some of you can help my out. I’ve created a logfile using the eos-log-tool and you can review it here:

If anybody can help me out, i’d really appreciate it. If there are more logfiles needed, please let me know. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

While this does not solve your problem, it is still important to note: never hard-reset your computer unless it is absolutely necessary (it almost never is). Consider enabling the magic SysRq key and use that to reset:

Thank you. Good advice
