I updated the system, which included kde plasma 6.7. If I try to open a second instance of firefox, the second instance is not responsive to search; the first instance works properly. Anyone seen this behavior?
It seems to be working here.
Same here. All fine.
I know the “working here” posts don’t offer assistance, but all I can say is that I can’t reproduce the issue either. It’s working fine for me, as well.
Did you try to run the second instance in the console to see if it output any errors ? Any logging would help diagnose the issue.
Depending on your use case / workflow, you may want to check out:
Ok, back home. My desktop firefox behaves as expected. I tried opening firefox through the command line and see no errors on open. Also, I noted that when I hover over icons the text for that icon is not shown. If I click on a link on the page, it opens.
I do not have a seprate search box, rather I do my searches in the address bar. I do not have google set at search engine.
For me the behavior described by @jam does not happen. I am on Plasma 6.7.
@jam are you searching from inside the address bar? Or are you searching from inside the search box? Or do you open a search engine homepage and do your search?
What is the version of Firefox that you have?
Exact cause not found, but issue resolved. I deleted the .mozilla/firefox directory, and re-synced with my firefox account. I guess some file got damaged.
